Over a hundred IT professionals from over 50 select companies convened last Oct. 13, 2005 at Hotel Intercontinental, Makati City to hear the latest solutions in Disaster Recovery Planning in an event dubbed as "How To Relax When Disaster Strikes."  Organized by SQL*Wizard, positioned to be the country's center of excellence in database technologies, an impressive roster of speakers shared proven and tested strategies and techniques in DRP.

Topping the list was European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines' Executive Vice President, Mr. Henry Schumacher.  He spoke about the importance of having a business continuity and disaster recovery plan.  He further discussed about the need for businesses to assess risk and analyze a disaster's impact on business and provided pointers on how this can be done.  DataOne Asia's President and CEO, Mr. Cyril Rocke, presented the data center-hosting alternative as a proactive measure in safekeeping critical data.  HP's Mr. Joel Josol tackled hardware solutions that complement any organization’s DRP strategy; while Mr. Vic Ciencia of Symantec Corporation discussed the software solutions.  Lastly, SQL*Wizard's Database Services Group Manager, Mr. John Palafox, presented how companies can ensure business continuity through managed services.
